Buxton is a lucky town. With firework displays being cancelled across the country for lack of funds or volunteers, Buxton & District Lions have once again held a successful Annual Bonfire and Fireworks Event at the Buxton Cricket Ground on Saturday 4th November.
The event was well publicised – thanks to High Peak Radio, the Opera House, the Pavillion Gardens, Pure Buxton, the Advertiser, and posters dislayed around the town - discounted tickets were able to be purchased in advance from the Buxton Opera House via their website and this year all children under 15 were admtted free of charge as part of the club's and sponsor's commitment to the local community.
Sponsorship by local businesses for various aspects of the evening is extremly important and the Buxton Lions would encourage you all to support our sponsors during the year - they do make the difference.
Thanks must go to our main sponsors, Mark Drabble and Melissa Downhill and the staff from Tin Man Scrap from Harpur Hill who have sponsored this year's fireworks show. Tin Man offer "The best in metal recycling" and help their customers by turning trash into cash. Tin Man also provided 400 souvenir mugs and handed out fluorescent wands to the children as they arrived at the entrance gate.
