As my year as president comes to an end who'd have thought we would find ourselves in this unusual position - being in Coronavirus
This year has been unprecedented. We have seen our membership fall due to illness, old age and resignations. We have seen all our plans for various forthcoming events either cancelled or deferred - but still we keep smiling!
Once again 2019 saw the Duck Race take place which was a resounding success and the Bonfire/Fireworks was successful in terms of enjoyment for the public but proved to be physically too demanding for our shrinking membership as well as a reduction in revenue. It's because of these two factors that we have decided to discontinue managing this event and concentrate on smaller events that need less manpower and generate more funds. We have during the last year continued our support of other local groups and their causes. Let's hope that consolidating our efforts on a smaller scale that we can stay strong and resilient as we go forward.
We enjoyed our regular monthly meal meetings with the main venue being the Cavendish Golf Club.
Lastly can I say a huge thank you to you all - my fellow Lions,wives/partners and all who have contributed to the Club throughout the year and in particular to those who have supported me in my role as president, for their generosity with their time in giving me support and guidance - I couldn't have done it without you.
I would like to wish Lion David Brindley every success as he takes over the role of President for the coming year.
